Our Story
Since 2000, we’ve been turning our clients’ frustration with their homes into blissful happiness. We pride ourselves on having the best quality Glide-Out shelves available to homeowners. Our process, service, and dedicated team of professionals are simply unmatched in the business.
ShelfGenie History
2000-2007
College dropout Andrew Kerwin installed custom glide-in, glide-out shelving in the kitchen cabinets for his parents and their neighbors in Richmond, Virginia. Seeing a tremendous opportunity, he partnered with his parents to start Shelf Conversions. Later, with the help of several consultants who became his partners, Kerwin developed scalable systems and processes. In December 2007, the first ShelfGenie franchise opened in Richmond.
2011-2014
In January 2011, ShelfGenie is recognized in Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500 list for the first time, where it has remained ever since. In July 2013, ShelfGenie opened its 25th franchise in Cincinnati. The following June, ShelfGenie expanded into Canada for the first time, opening its 28th franchise location in Vancouver.
2016-2019
In 2016, Andy Pittman, who opened one of ShelfGenie’s first franchises with his business partner Dan Powell, joined the Head Office as COO. In 2018, he was promoted to CEO. Under Pittman’s leadership, ShelfGenie rises to #1 for Organization/Storage Systems on Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 Best of the Best list. In July 2019, ShelfGenie opened its 50th franchise in Fort Lauderdale.
