Carlisle has enjoyed a long history of responsible and sustainable practices. These practices help benefit both our environment and Carlisle economically. Embedded in our culture is a drive for continuous improvement, efficiency and waste reduction. Several of our factories are zero waste, zero emissions facilities. The following examples highlight our sustainability:
Carlisle’s Ultimate RB plant recycles used tires into a diverse array of new products, including: rubber flooring, tiles, mats, and EPDM granules for athletic surfaces. Since 1985 we have recycled more than 1.3 billion pounds of tires.
In 2019, our Hangzhou, China plant derived 15% of its energy use from solar, resulting in a reduction of nearly 1,500 tons of carbon dioxide emissions since project completion — the equivalent of planting 12,500 trees.
Carlisle’s TyrFil Systems has partnered with American Forests, the nation’s longest running non-profit conservation organization, as part of a long-standing collaboration to replant thousands of new trees in our nation’s most devastated fire zones
Carlisle utilizes recycled paper from the offices at our Carlisle, PA plant to incorporate into our paper facer roofing insulation.
Carlisle established the Sustainable Roofing and Waterproof Alliance (SRWA) in 2007 to align sustainable product development with architects and engineers.
