What does the job involve?
You will be providing care and support to people either in their own homes or within one of our supported living and residential services. Working as part of a small but caring team, in a set service or locality, you will have a dedicated management team to support you and Precious Homes will equip you with the tools and knowledge you need to do your job to the best of your ability.
The support you give to each person will depend very much on their individual needs and abilities. Your role is to enable them to become as independent as they can. This might include:

-Daily living and independent skills: Helping people to get organised, plan their day, clean, meal-plan and shop.
-Aiding communication: Helping people who may have communication difficulties to express themselves and make choices.
-Providing emotional and behavioral support: Being on hand to guide and advise, listen and understand, build confidence and self-esteem.
-Companionship and support: Keeping the people we support safe at home and in the community.
-Keeping active: Accessing and taking part in activities such as swimming, dance class, cinema, theatre trips and football.
-Socialising: Helping people meet friends and stay in touch with loved ones.
-Medicine management: Working with health professionals to support any medical needs, including making and attending any necessary appointments or administering medication.
-Budgeting: Including day-to-day money management and financial support.
-Delivering individual support plans: Following a dedicated person-centered support plan, including updating our Nourish system, key worker sessions, goal setting and ‘talk time’.
-Education: Researching, applying for and attending college courses, and helping to find and attend voluntary opportunities.
What training will I receive?
As a business, we nurture, support and invest in our teams so that they can deliver a first-class service whilst growing professionally and progressing their careers.

When you join the team, you’ll receive a comprehensive induction and training programme, ensuring you have the knowledge and skills to succeed in your new role. We invest in our teams by providing each team member with at least 8 days of face-to-face training per year, on top of mandatory and online training. We also provide bespoke training based on individual service user and team member need.

We believe in recognising and rewarding our employees’ commitment, not only through good pay and benefits but also through the opportunity for development and promotion. All team members are provided with the opportunity to progress in their personal development and are given the opportunity of training at level 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care. Managers and Senior Team members are supported to complete ILM level 5.

Want to know more? Here are some of the questions we get asked by new recruits.
What qualities do you need to be a Support Worker?
Are you an effective communicator? Do you have a positive ‘can do’ attitude? Are you sensitive and discreet? Can you empower people? Are you flexible and open-minded? Are you practical and a good problem solver?

Our Support Workers, like the people we support, are all unique and each bring their own talents, passions and drive to their role. What sets apart a good Support Worker is empathy, a caring nature, a natural ability to connect with people, to motivate them and build confidence and self-esteem.

Do you hire international support workers?
Of course! As one of the UK’s fastest-growing care organisations, we are looking for naturally compassionate people, with the right values and attitude, to join our growing team across England.

If you have the right to work in the UK, have an excellent level of written and spoken English and are interested in becoming a Support Worker with Precious Homes- then we would love to hear from you!

What can I earn as a Support Worker?
As a Support Worker you will receive an hourly rate for the support you provide. This includes day support and night-time support and will be dependent on the location you work and your job role. As you progress your career you rate of pay will increase to reflect your experience and job role.

All of our rates exceed the national minimum wage. As an equal opportunity employer we do not pay less to younger Support Workers – ensuring the same hourly rate to those we employ under the age of 21.

What are the opportunities for career development?
We place a real focus on recruiting from within and promoting career advancement opportunities across our teams at Precious Homes. Once you start working with us, your Manager will work through your future goals and aspirations during regular supervision and appraisal sessions – supporting you to plan and achieve your work goals and drive your career at Precious Homes.
