About Coleman
The Coleman Company makes what it takes to be a happy camper. As a leading manufacturer of outdoor recreation gear, it produces coolers, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, air mattresses, lanterns, grills, life vests, and floats, among other items, which are sold under the Aerobed, Coleman, Campingaz, Exponent, Hodgman, Mad Dog Gear, Sevylor, and Stearns brands. Coleman operates sales offices and distribution facilities worldwide and sells its products mainly through mass merchandisers, home centers, and other retail stores, as well as through its website and a network of about a dozen Coleman Factory Outlet stores. Founded in 1900, Coleman is owned by  Jarden Corporation.

Since purchasing Coleman in 2005, Jarden has made what it refers to as "tuck-in" acquisitions designed to build its product line and distribution network. In 2010 Jarden bought air bed maker Aero Products, International and added it to its Outdoor Solutions business, which also houses Coleman. The purchase bolstered Coleman's offering of indoor and outdoor air beds and related products. Aero Products' primary brands include Aerobed and Aero Sport.

Coleman and Campingaz brands formed the foundation of its parent's Outdoor Solutions division, organized shortly after the purchase. Today the division generates more than 40% of Jarden's total sales and in addition to Aero, includes the Marmot, Penn, Rawlings, Shakespeare, and K2 brands, among others. The purchase of Aero Products contributed to a 9% increase in sales for Jarden's Outdoor Solutions business segment in 2010 vs. 2009. Outdoor Solutions' revenues had been rising until 2009, when demand worldwide was stifled by tough overall economic conditions. The division's sales had grown from $820 million in 2005 to nearly $2.5 billion in 2008. Sales fell in 2009 to $2.3 billion, about an 8% drop.

More recently, the company saw its leadership change. Robert Marcovitch, formerly president and CEO of K2 Sports, succeeded Sam Solomon in September 2011. Solomon, who served as Coleman's president and CEO since 2007, left to lead Sears Holdings' tools business.
