Student Profile
Boulder Creek Academy was founded in 1993 to serve troubled teens whose needs were not being met in traditional school due to academic, behavioral and clinical challenges.
We are a therapeutic boarding school with a state-approved special education program. Our 180-acre campus is located at the base of the Cabinet Mountains in north Idaho. We serve students from across the United States and internationally.
Our mission is to assist students and families with personal growth, relationships, and lifelong learning. Students benefit from an evidence-based curriculum combining academic and therapeutic learning with adventure therapy, leadership, and service opportunities. Our unique program allows boys and girls to experience school and a social life through co-ed and same-sex activities.
At Boulder Creek Academy, children learn to make the most of their strengths, develop coping tools, gain confidence and self-esteem and begin see the unlimited possibilities the future holds.
Parents benefit from our family reunification program through weekly family therapy, parent workshops, and adventure therapy experiences.
We are licensed by the Idaho State Department of Health and Welfare and our academic program is accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools. We do not discriminate on religion, race, creed, national origin, ethnic background, sexual orientation or cultural differences.

Our therapeutic approach helps children develop a healthy sense of self, create and sustain healthy relationships, and address their individual clinical needs. Our approach is so effective because of the strong relationships developed between children, their therapist and all of our staff. By establishing rapport and setting clear and consistent boundaries, we have created an optimal therapeutic environment, resulting in positive changes and growth.
