We are the nation's heart charity and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research. Coronary heart disease is the UK's single biggest killer but we are leading the fight against it. Our work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are helping to change the face of the UK's fight against heart disease.

Our mission is to win the fight against cardiovascular disease and our vision is a world in which people do not die prematurely or suffer from cardiovascular disease.

We were founded in 1961 by a group of medical professionals wanting to fund extra research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and circulatory disease. After half a century of extraordinary scientific and societal progress we have helped to transform the landscape of heart disease.
