It is a leading producer of firefighter's personal protective equipment, including helmets. Lion Apparel supplies fire departments in several countries and government organization such as the Bundeswehr (the armed forces of Germany) and the US Marine Corps. The business is owned and operated by the Lapedes family and has subsidiaries and international operations in countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the UK, as well as in the US. Lion Apparel was founded in 1898 by William Lapedes.
