Lawn Doctor and all of our employees aim to help educate our customers and the public about the effective and responsible use of plant care products through exceptional service delivery and safety practices. We also believe in the superior service and attention given to our customers by way of being small, family-owned and -most importantly- local. It’s important to us that every LD team member knows and understands the area we service.
Lawn Doctor also believes strongly in having happy and healthy employees. You cannot take good care of your customers if you don’t take good care of your employees first. From top of the line equipment to help make their jobs easier, to mid-season parties to celebrate service milestones and acknowledge hard work, we do what it takes to cultivate and maintain a positive and dynamic work environment. Back in 1988, Jim Norton did a lot of research in search of a business venture. He wanted to be his own boss and own something that could use the help of his four teenage boys. That’s when he came across Lawn Doctor. Lawn Doctor’s corporate founders were just a few guys running a hardware company out of their garage in New Jersey. Then they narrowed down their specialty to lawn care equipment and became a nationwide success. LD Corporate wanted to give local business hopefuls the opportunity to grow and prosper just like they had. Jim loved the idea! He ran the business out of his Braintree garage, customer information was kept in a handwritten journal, and the only employees were his sons.
Now, 30 years later, it’s all still in the family. Jim Norton is present and involved in the Lawn Doctor franchise that he worked so hard to establish. Tom Norton, his second oldest, has taken on the day-to-day ownership duties of running the business. Tom has been with LD Massachusetts since the very beginning. He helped his father grow the family business by servicing lawns every summer from high school through college. He continues to implement the Norton family values to this small, now Hanson-based franchise.

Every year in early spring we hold in house training for our service team members to ensure the expectations and standard of the upcoming seasons service is clear and a common goal across all LD staff. We retrain on standard applications as well as introduce innovative methods of service to help maximize our efficiency and results.
Custom lawn maintenance servicesOur seasonal maintenance services such as our Lawn Care Program make up the core of services we provide from year to year. Ensuring lawns have proper nutrition from fertilizer and regular weed control works to keep the lawn healthy and prevent common lawn issues from developing. We provide both granular and liquid fertilizer (as shown above) depending on what is best fit for each lawns unique needs. Regardless of the application method fertilizer is applied the products work the same way and accomplish equal results!
Work with family at a family business! As the company is owned and operated under a father-son duo, it is only fitting that we keep the trend of working with family going! We have many cousins, siblings, father-daughter duos and other familiar connections through our various departments which makes working here that much more fun.
Teamwork and collaborationAt Lawn Doctor we encourage all team members to voice their opinions and ideas which helps to build great team relationships and allows projects and business matters to be considered from multiple perspectives!
Unique and powerful equipmentThis is our Power Seeding service that uses state of the art equipment exclusive to Lawn Doctor. One of the keys to a successful lawn seeding is seed to soil contact and this service ensures that is maximized to yield the best possible germination rate. We recommend this service to lawns that are thin/bare and in need of a full revamp.
Annual maintenance services In addition to our maintenance programs we also offer additional annual services for upkeep that promote lawns stay healthy and improve from year to year. Our aeration service is one of the most popular annual services we offer and provides many benefits such as improved air exchange, better nutrient absorption, stronger roots and thicker turf, more efficient use of water & more!
