SHALER AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT encompasses approximately 14 square miles (36 km2), including: Shaler Township, Etna Borough, Millvale Borough, and Reserve Township. According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 41,565. By 2010, the district's population declined to 39,293 people.
