GMHC has been a committed member of the Guttenberg community since our founding over 60 years ago. We are proud of our role as a Critical Access Hospital, licensed to deliver acute, skilled, observation and hospice inpatient care. We offer a wide range of services to help our community live healthy lives.
You can choose Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics for general medical and surgical services as well as specialty care. In addition to the 25-bed hospital, GMHC operates the community ambulance service and supports area trauma care via a state-certified Level IV Community Trauma Center.
Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Cornerstone Family Practice accept most area commercial insurances including Medical Associates Health Plans, Medicare and all Iowa Medicaid Managed Care Organizations.

Guttenberg Municipal Hospital has been helping to make the Guttenberg area a great place to live, work and play for more than 50 years. In 1961, GMH was established as a nonprofit municipal hospital under the charter of the City of Guttenberg, Iowa. Today GMHC remains an independent community hospital providing acute and skilled healthcare services, and includes family practice clinics in Guttenberg, Garnavillo and Edgewood.
