Skagit County, whose County seat, Mount Vernon, is located in the beautiful Skagit Valley, employs 650 full-time and part-time employees. The County is governed by a 3 person Board of County Commissioners. Elected officials oversee the departments of: Auditor, Assessor, Treasurer, Clerk, Prosecutor, Sheriff (Patrol & Corrections) and Coroner, as well as elected Superior and District Court Judges. Additionally the County has the following departments: Planning, Public Works, Public Health, Administrative Services (Information Services, GIS, Records), Human Resources/Risk Management, Public Defender, Department of Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Facilities, and Parks.
