About RISE Life Services, An Aid to The Developmentally Disabled Company
RISE Elevates Lives
RISE Life Services is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 1980 as Aid To The Developmentally Disabled, Inc. (ADD). RISE’s mission is to ensure that parents, relatives, and caregivers of physically and emotionally challenged individuals never have to deal with the decision to institutionalize their loved ones, and subject them to the prison-like setting and neglect these facilities became known for.
ADD’s founders were dedicated to ensuring that their special needs neighbors could live in a comfortable, home-like setting, with the dignity and care they deserve. Today, RISE Life Services operates 32 fully-staffed group homes, a “Without Walls” program, two food pantries, and now a brand new counseling center called The Elevations Clinic.
Over the past 5 years, under the leadership of Charles Evdos, and a stellar board of directors, RISE has become one of the most prominent 501(c)(3)’s on the East End.
RISE Life Services is now expanding its footprint into Western Suffolk and beyond, and has plans on developing multi-unit facilities all over New York. RISE’s growth has been incredible and its upward trajectory has created incredible opportunities for the individuals they serve and for its staff members.

Charles Evdos is a veteran executive and entrepreneur with over 4 decades of experience in fundraising, major gifts, estate-planning, finance, operations and business.
Charles began his working career as a “Copy Boy” at the New York Daily News. He rose up the ranks at this iconic daily paper, to become an editorial assistant and TV/radio reporter, before concluding his storied 12-year career in journalism, as a business manager.
Charles always had a passion for helping people and decided to leave journalism behind and join the not-for-profit sector. He has worked at Long Island Head Start as their Deputy Executive Director, APPLE, Inc. as the Chief Operating Officer, and CFO and then as the Director of Development for United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County; a position he held for over 13 years before joining Rise Life Services (an Aid To The Developmentally Disabled company), as its Executive Director.
Charles energy is contagious and his “can-do” attitude is what fuels the “We Elevate Lives” mantra that is at the core of everything RISE Life Services does each day.
Charles is a family man who understands life/work balance. He is married, and together with his wife Renea, enjoys fine dining, live music, traveling, and spending time with their 5 children and 11 grandchildren.

Many NFPO’s (not-for-profit organizations) in the life services sector continually face critical challenges as they are facilitators who must work closely with state run organizations, who are notorious for, updating operating policies, program requirements, and reimbursement schedules without firmly having their fingers on the pulse of the needs of the individuals being served, or the staff that serves these individuals. Despite these challenges, RISE Life Services has been able to build an incredible team of angels who are passionate about helping those less fortunate than most, live the most inspired and productive lives possible. Every organization has room for improvement, and while RISE Life Services is no different, the talent, passion, drive and opportunities are already in place with the people that help it elevate lives every day, making the foundation strong and the future incredibly bright for RISE and all that became part of its family.
