About Handz On Inc
Handz-On is non-profit organization in Connecticut that was established in 2002. Handz-On was founded by Fay Evans in response to the outstanding number of persons with mental health disabilities in rural or saturated areas with limited access to home care assistance and family support services in Connecticut. Today, Handz-On has been able to expand services to help those in the Western area of Massachusetts.
Our purpose is to provide in-home and community-based services that will assist individuals with disabilities, while providing services to the family of persons with disabilities. We work with clients from all different backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. At Handz-On we assist individuals in realizing and achieving their highest potential so that they may be fully functional members in their community.
Our work is client-centered, relationship-based, and culturally competent. We respect the dignity of all individuals and family. At Handz-On, Inc., we understand that each individual case is different. Our services are tailored as direct care based offerings purely based on our clients' individualized needs.
We offer support and services through our programs through companion services and Independent Living Skills Training (ILST). The companion services offer supervision and socialization that are provided in accordance with a therapeutic goals. The companion does not give direct medical care, but may perform tasks that are incidental to the care and supervision of the individual. The ILST program is a coaching service. Clients will become educated in areas such as self-care, medication management, interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a household.
