About Italian Home for Children
Italian Home for Children (IHC) is an integrated network of powerful and effective programs helping children and families with emotional, behavioral, and educational challenges thrive in their communities. Established in 1919 as a home for Italian orphans after the devastating influenza epidemic, IHC now serves over 1,400 children annually of all nationalities who have behavioral health and family functioning struggles. Many of the children we serve are victims of abuse, neglect, and poverty. Most have either mental health or autism spectrum diagnoses.

Our services for children include: residential care for children ages 4-14 who cannot safely live at home, community- and office-based therapy and mentoring for children and families, and a special education school for children aged 4-14 with diagnoses such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Cognitive Impairments. We have a large campus in Jamaica Plain, as well as location in Brighton and East Freetown.

We strive to be the employer of choice for those who wish to work with children in the programs described above. We work hard to ensure that our pay rates are the same or better than at other similar agencies, and we offer a level of paid time off that is among the highest in the industry. We also offer spot bonuses for exemplary work, longevity awards for those who work with us for a while, employee recognition events, and more. We hope you will choose to join us!
