In 2002, at the age of 60, when most people are preparing for retirement, Founder Jim Spencer opened a furniture store in Memphis, Tennessee. Soon thereafter, his son’s joined him, and the company began to grow.

In 20 short years since the founding of DSG in 2002, that one-store operation grew to become the largest Ashley licensee in the world. DSG owns and operates well over 100 Ashley retail stores, 19 distribution centers, and two corporate offices, with over 4,000 team members. More than 4 million children touch the child welfare system in America each year, and for a long time, the founders Chris and Lauren Tomlin dreamed about ways the Church could be a solution to this crisis. In 2018, that vision came to life through For Others.
DSG is proud to partner with For Others in helping give a voice to foster care and the orphan crisis in the US in an effort to:
• Strengthen families in crisis
• Support the heroic work of foster families
• Shepherd every child to a safe and permanent home
For Others has served over 13,800 families, 35,000 children, and made an economic impact in our country of nearly $40 million.
DSG is thrilled to launch our support behind For Others with the goal to ensure every child finds a forever home.
OneWorld Health – Care that Endures
In the developing world, children are losing limbs from minor infections, women are dying during childbirth, and communities are left without access to doctors, clinics, and care. In 2017, we decided to take action and join forces with OneWorld Health. They developed a model that provides affordable healthcare to more than 400,000 patients in communities that need it most. And while global travel restrictions meant our volunteer opportunities in Central America had to be postponed, we are proud to continue to provide our support in those areas of need.
Hope to Dream – Dreamers Change the World
We believe every child deserves to sleep in a bed of their own, a bed that will help them to dream big. After all, dreamers change the world! Since 2004, DSG has been donating mattresses, bed frames, and bedding to children around the country. Despite 2020 bringing cancelled events, shuttered locations, and additional restrictions, we improvised and remained on mission.
We have other partners in our communities that work with us to help those in need! Our other partners include:
