Welcome to a company in high gear. Buchanan is one of the largest trucking companies in Northeast Indiana, in one of the most dynamic industries in the country. Nearly everything you eat, wear, or use comes on a truck. This is a place of opportunity and growth, and we want you to be a part of it.
What makes us different?We are a company out of Fort Wayne, IN- but we also have terminals in Indianapolis, Houston & Pittsburgh. We have received word that you are interesting in exploring your career options. Buchanan is the place where drivers come to stay. What sets us apart is our Owner. Geary Buchanan was a truck driver himself for years. He started this company with one truck, two trailers and a dream. He steadily built his fleet and we are now at over 275 company trucks and several owner operators. We are getting ready to have our 20 year anniversary in 2016. We also have a separate logistics company, Buchanan Logistics, and a company for new driver/ drivers needing to rehab their careers with more one on one attention, Shellback Transportation.
Because our company is ran by a driver, the treatment of drivers is a huge priority here. We are trying to change the standard by setting the example, making our drivers feel like teams members and more than just a number. All of our executives and the owner, Geary Buchanan, have an open door policy. He actually sits right a crossed the hall from me with his door wide open all day. You can come in, call in, or email us anytime you need anything, we would be happy to help. The office staff and the drivers still have cookouts every Friday in the summers, a company picnic and Buchanan Olympics and over the holidays we will have the company Christmas party. It is a small company feel, but not a small company pay. We pay our drivers a little different here. We calculate you pay based on percentage. Percentage payment has been very lucrative for our company drivers. We also have 2013 or newer trucks with APUs and new trailers as well. Nice equipment is a priority of Geary Buchanan’s. Since he was a driver himself, he makes decisions with the driver’s perspective in mind. We have regional routes and over the road, Canadian freight if you have your passport. We do Flatbed, Step Deck, RGN, and Van. Heavy Haul and Over Dimensional is offered to our owner operators and some of our experienced company drivers. There is training to help you transition into these areas as well. We welcome Owner Operators and Teams. We even have a lease to own program.
