MJ Soffe

The M. J. Soffe Company is an apparel manufacturer for active and fanatic customers. The firm, founded in 1946, uniforms athletes, cheerleaders, and fans with jerseys, T-shirts, shorts, sweats, tanks, jackets, and other items. It operates through four divisions: sporting goods, retail, military, and college bookstores. M. J. Soffe's products, which outfit sizes toddler through adult, are sold through specialty sporting goods and department stores, as well as in university bookstores. The company has manufactured activewear for the US military for many years. M. J. Soffe was acquired by Delta Apparel in 2003 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary.

In early 2009, the company expanded its executive ranks with a top sales person who has logged experience working with behemoths the likes of NIKE, Disney, Reebok, and V.F. Corporation's Lee jeans. The company's looking to grow its apparel marketing base in 2009.

Having successfully entered the accessories market has given Soffe something to cheer about. The company inked a deal with Vital Apparel in 2006 to make a Soffe-branded line of sports-themed accessories for young girls. The collection, which debuted in spring 2007, includes flip flops, socks, scrunchies, hair bands, and other items. Soffe then color-coordinated the line with its popular cheerleader shorts, which come in more than 40 colors.
