Our Values
Six guiding values embody how PayneWest serves our clients, our fellow colleagues and the communities in which we live in and love.

Accountability. We are accountable to every entity and individual that we interact with – including each other. We are all equally responsible for the organization’s successes and failures. We hold one another accountable for our behavior and measurable results.

Balance. When you get one of us, you get all of us. We are a team of colleagues who work together across all lines of business, geography and function. We encourage balance within all aspects of our organization. We respect quality of life and nurture a balanced professional and personal environment. We respect the individuality that exists within each of our offices while striving to maintain a consistent behavioral culture.

Excellence. We constantly strive for continuous improvement and excellence within our industry and our communities. We invest in tools and resources that allow for continual development of our expertise and acumen. Every colleague takes responsibility to develop themselves as a professional. We stay at the forefront of our industry by encouraging collaboration and innovation. We never sacrifice value and quality.

Humanity. We believe in the power of humanity; it is at the heart of who we are and all that we do. We are an ally who seeks to support and understand diversity by listening to and learning from the unique experiences of all our clients, colleagues, and communities. As an ally, we are unified in a shared responsibility to restore and elevate humanity by eliminating discrimination and bias in all its forms and by fostering a culture that values goodwill, compassion and belonging and where everyone feels empowered to be their full, authentic selves.

Integrity. We understand that trust is earned. We earn trust through professionalism, doing what is right and always being honest.

Respect. We listen to and learn from each other. We support and celebrate differences. We encourage openness, honesty and give each other the benefit of the doubt. We respect our planet and strive to make environmentally conscious business decisions. We treat our clients, colleagues and communities with fairness, decency and good citizenship.
Our Culture
We think we’ve developed a pretty great work culture. We got to where we are today through collaboration, innovation and an unwavering commitment to doing what’s right.

Our company runs on the principles of serving our 3 C’s: Clients, Colleagues and Communities.

Clients. Each colleague is asked when making a decision to ensure we’re positively impacting those that we serve. Our clients are the lifeblood of our company. Making our clients successful makes us and our communities successful.

Colleagues. We embrace our colleagues and firmly believe they are true assets to our company. As a result, we invest in them by providing ongoing training and educational opportunities in insurance and general business practices through PayneWest University. We strive to be an employer of choice by retaining our skilled colleagues throughout their career, which brings value to our clients through continuity, knowledge and commitment.

Communities. Finally, we value the communities in which we live and do business. Without our communities, we would not be the premiere agency we are today. In addition to providing support to many non-profits in the communities we call home, PayneWest provides paid volunteer hours for every colleague and office volunteer days. We understand that our success is directly tied to our communities’ successes.
Change Makers
We’re the catalyst that walks into our clients’ lives and helps them make positive changes so that they’re more informed and protected. We take the philosophy that—not only are we there when clients have a claim but—we are there to help minimize their risk in the first place. Our unique approach unlocks potential and drives meaningful change for businesses and individuals.

We offer all the value-added services of a national firm except we aren’t just about a quote, sale and a renewal. We advocate for our clients first and foremost. It’s about a relationship, smart business sense, long-term strategies and being part of the community.
Community
Community is core to our mission. Our offices are involved in their respective communities in three ways.

PayneWest Giving Our Best

Each October, our offices choose a charity in their community and volunteer to help them for a full day. We concentrate the efforts during a few select weeks as a way to build momentum and generate involvement. Last year, the vast majority of our employees participated. In the past, we’ve volunteered at food pantries, pet shelters, libraries and more.

Local Sponsorships

Each of our offices has a budget for sponsoring local events, be it the symphony, a fun run, charitable auction, etc. Events are chosen by each office and in many cases, staff from that office volunteer at the event, too.

Individual Involvement

We encourage staff at all levels to get involved. Many of our colleagues serve on local boards. They coach soccer and volunteer at community events. They donate funds. They connect our company to the communities and the people we serve in real and tangible ways.
Diversity and Inclusion
We believe differences make a meaningful difference.

One of PayneWest’s core initiatives is Diversity Equity and Inclusion. We want to be able to attract, recruit, and retain individuals from different walks of life, backgrounds, majors, and experiences. By welcoming unique perspectives, recruiting diversely, and celebrating differences, PayneWest will continue to elevate our workplace and affect positive change.

Colleague Resource Groups play an important role in supporting PayneWest’s efforts to be an inclusive organization. CRGs function by providing professional development, informal mentoring, and networking opportunities to CRG members. They also provide a forum for colleagues to discuss relevant business and cultural changes and opportunities; collaborate with senior leadership, HR, talent acquisition, communications, corporate social responsibility, and other CRGs to coordinate efforts, build awareness, celebrate, and provide perspective on current diversity strategies and/or efforts.
