About Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Joining the Indianapolis Motor Speedway means you’re joining the worldwide leader in motorsports entertainment that hosts some of the largest sporting events on the globe. IMS takes pride in a team-oriented staff with a diverse skillset that is dedicated to reaching their ultimate potential amid the excitement, tradition and pageantry associated with the world’s largest sports seating facility.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the result of a vision and a dream by Carl Fisher, who wanted to build an automobile testing ground to support Indiana’s growing automotive industry. In 1909, Fisher partnered with James Allison, Arthur Newby and Frank Wheeler to form the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation. Since that day, IMS has been a world leader in automotive innovation and development, highlighted by the first-ever use of a rear-view mirror by Ray Harroun in the first Indianapolis 500 in 1911.

Today, under Roger Penske and Penske Corp.’s leadership, that vision and dream from 1909 are roaring full speed ahead. The Racing Capital of the World has continued to build upon the legacy of a facility that is over a century old, prioritizing the fan experience and cementing the legendary racetrack’s status as one of the most historic sporting institutions in this nation and across the globe.
