About Harris Hardwoods, Inc.
Harris Hardwoods is a family owned company located in the heart of central Minnesota. Founded in 1994, we manufacture hardwood cabinet components, mouldings, millwork, and edge glued panels for the kitchen and bath industry. We work with other industries as well and often partner with home builders, architects and designers, RV manufacturers, millwork distributors, and more. We believe time is valuable; and our work allows our customers time to focus on their business, get more done in their day, and like us, get home to their families each night.
Start Your Career at Harris Hardwoods!
There are many opportunities to start your career at Harris Hardwoods. Whether you want to work directly with manufacturing in the rough mill or main plant, or indirectly in shipping and packaging, we think you'll find a position that is just right for you.
Rough Mill Roles:

Gang saw operators are on the cutting edge - literally! Working at the front of the saw, gang saw operators do the first cutting - a width cutting generally referred to as ripping (or sometimes 'edging'.) Ripping is the first stage of any customer order and begins the manufacturing process.

Gang saw assistants work at the back of the saw along the sorting table. They sort and stack the ripped lumber by width and species, and ensure proper quantity and quality. "Tailers" as they are called, keep ripped stock neat and organized to facilitate manufacturing downstream.

Chop saw operators are also on the cutting edge - of technology that is! They program state-of-the-industry optimizing cross-cut chop saws to scan, cut, and sort lumber by fixed length and random length. They mark lumber for imperfections which are then scanned and removed, ensuring a clear board and high yield.

Chop saw assistants, like gang saw assistants, are also called "tailers". They sort and stack the chopped lumber pieces by lengths and track production metrics. They will often assist the operators with marking lumber for scanning and cutting.
Moulder Department Roles:

Moulder Operators are responsible for creating those signature cabinet mouldings and components. They define true craftsmanship.

Moulder Assistants are committed to providing the moulder operators with ongoing support and assistance. Like the rough mill "tailers", they keep the manufacturing process moving!

Tool Room Specialists fill a vital need by ensuring our manufacturing teams have the proper tooling - knives, heads, blades, etc., to get the job done right!

Specialty Department Roles:
Specialty Machine Operators operate a variety of machines - they sand, plane, trim, re-saw, cope, tenon, drill, bore, and more!

Shipping/Packaging coordinators ready the product for shipping and ensure delivery of quality products.

Material Handlers load/unload trucks and manage the flow of material between machine centers. They keep the manufacturing process flowing smoothly.

Team Leads help train and lead by being role models to others and supporting the entire manufacturing team.
Glue Department Roles:
Gluer Lay-up Assistants work side by side with the operators, sorting wood staves by color and grain to lay-up panels of consistent color and quality.

Glue Clamp Carrier Operators have a keen eye for color and grain pattern, too, and produce beautiful, color-matched panels. They tend the clamp carrier and oversee machine set-up to ensure a quality panel every time.
