About Opportunity Services
Opportunity Services is where adults with disabilities learn to take pride in a job well done, and where neighborhood businesses and Fortune 500 companies find their most dedicated employees. We celebrate each individual’s unique abilities and interests, matching him or her with meaningful jobs and activities in the community independently or as part of a supervised work team.

A big reason Opportunity Services Team members love working here is that we Make a Difference in the lives of the people we serve. Our employees know that their contribution to the individuals we serve creates success - whether it’s something small that brings a smile to someone’s face or a big breakthrough - happens because the team at Opportunity Services works together. This teamwork of helping, listening to and supporting one another defines our culture throughout the organization. We are looking for new team members who want to Make a Difference and care about the people they serve and work with.

Spotlight on Mikala, an individual in Tallahassee, FL!

Mikala came to Opportunity Services the summer of 2018 looking for employment training and a way to enter into the medical field. In the beginning, Mikala had her heart set on working with animals through veterinarian work. It wasn’t until participating in preplacement training through Opportunity Services that Mikala’s thinking expanded to include all aspects of medicine. After successfully completing the training, Opportunity Services assisted Mikala to find an On-The-Job Training (OJT) at Florida A&M University’s ( FAMU) Student Health Department. Mikala quickly adapted to her environment and learned how to complete health insurance verifications and assist in conducting health seminars and programs. At the end of her OJT, FAMU offered Mikala a job within their ranks.

Here is what Harriet Jennings, Mikala's Supervisor, had to share about her: "Mikala is my first high school student I was not expecting to get such a great employee-- she is never late and needs little to no supervision. Now I have work study students that are in college and they need supervision every minute of the day! Not Mikala-- she is on point. I showed her how to process claims and I have not gotten one back stating it was wrong for any reason."

Currently, Mikala is working at FAMU until she graduates Leon High School with honors this May and prepares to attend college in Orlando this Fall.

Congrats Mikala! Your Opportunity Services family in Tallahassee is proud of your success and wishes you the best moving forward

Costa Rica
Opportunity Services is giving back to those in need!

The idea to reuse, reduce and recycle continues to become more popular in today’s society and many hope to reduce their carbon footprint to ensure the longevity of the world for future generations. Opportunity Services decided to adopt this mantra from the beginning of its inception. Having donated older technology, office supplies, etc. to local nonprofits over the years, this year Opportunity Services decided to take it to a global level!

In June, Nancy Gurney, President and Founder of Opportunity Services, and Craig Zack, Vice President, along with their families, traveled to Costa Rica to donate 50 iPads. “We were pleased to be able to donate these iPads to students in need,” shared Nancy. “We could no longer utilize them at Opportunity Services, but instead of recycling the parts, we wanted to go the extra mile and donate them to a worthy cause."
