Alexander & Schmidt was founded in 1986, in Yarmouth, Maine, by Jim Alexander and Jim Schmidt. From day one, the firm specialized in loss control services for the insurance industry, building on the wide-ranging professional expertise of its founders. Clients found that they liked—and benefited from—the quality of the firm’s unusually accurate, reliable loss control reports, and business grew steadily over the years.

Today, with a network of highly qualified Loss Control Representatives and Field Inspectors working across the continental U.S., Alexander & Schmidt produces over 35,000 loss control reports a year for major insurance carriers, brokers, MGAs and program administrators.

Alexander & Schmidt also has grown to provide a variety of risk control consulting services, as well as offering specialized training programs for insurance industry clients and for the Insurer’s Loss Control Institute. The company’s in-house team of highly experienced quality assurance and operations professionals, health and safety experts, technical support staff and account managers provides accurate, in-depth services with a focus responsiveness and adding value, in every engagement, project and program.
